Applications in the prescribed format are invited from Indian citizens or such other nationalities as are declared eligible by the Govt. of India for the undermentioned posts :
MEDICAL OFFICER (GENERAL DUTY) IN WEST BENGAL HEALTH SERVICE (BASIC GRADE).
No of Posts: 1002 (one thousand and two) temporary (likely to be permanent) posts (266 reserved for SC, 125 for ST, 122 for BC candidates and 31 for Persons with Disabilities)
PAY: Rs. 9,000/- – 40,500/- plus Grade Pay Rs. 5,400/- plus admissible allowances.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential :Medical qualifications included in the First or Second Schedule or Part II of the Third Schedule of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, and registration as Medical practitioner in West Bengal; One year’s practical training as House Staff in any Government Hospital or other recognized institutions.
Desirable : Working experience in the field of Public Health.
AGE:
Ordinarily not more than 32 years as on 01.01.2009 for ordinary Graduates and 40 years for those possessing Postgraduate qualification, relaxable for otherwise well-qualified and experienced candidates. Age limit relaxable upto a maximum of four years for political sufferers in certain circumstances;
Age limit may also be relaxed for those who worked on contractual basis as Medical Officer under Government of West Bengal for an equivalent period of service rendered on contractual full time basis subject to a maximum period of 3 (three) years.
